Late Night: Liquid Street

Blending the deep grooves of funk with the improvisational spirit of jazz, Liquid Street returns to the stage for a long-awaited reunion performance. Over 15 years ago, this Ann Arbor-based quartet made waves in Michigan’s jazz scene with their dynamic blend of jazz, fusion, and soul. Drawing inspiration from artists like Herbie Hancock, Soulive, Robert Glasper, and Snarky Puppy, Liquid Street delivers a sound that’s both sophisticated and irresistibly funky.

The group features four seasoned veterans of the Detroit music scene: Bobby Streng (saxophones), Matt Endahl (keyboards), Jason Phelps (electric bass), and LaDell Abrams (drums). With a repertoire that fuses original compositions from their 2014 album Not Till You Feel It and innovative takes on classics, their high-energy live performances promise to remind audiences why instrumental music still moves the body and the soul.
