Artemis

The brainchild of pianist and composer Renee Rosnes, ARTEMIS is a powerful ensemble of modern virtuosos. Named for the Greek goddess of the hunt, the multinational, multigenerational quintet features pianist Renee Rosnes, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, tenor saxophonist Nicole Glover, bassist Noriko Ueda, and drummer Allison Miller. After experiencing an ARTEMIS live show at the Newport Jazz Festival, Blue Note President Don Was signed the band to the label. Artemis’s 3rd recording for the label, ARBORESQUE was released in early 2025, and remained atop the Jazzweek National Radio Charts for a full 5 weeks. The music is testament to the group’s evolving musical landscape and features stellar arrangements and riveting originals contributed by all members of the band.

NPR said Artemis is “a killer line-up of players who hail from all over the world and converge on this extremely cosmopolitan, sleek, rhythm-forward, modern sound.” Each musician is a brilliant player and composer. Artemis performs with power, passion, and high-wire intensity. It’s no wonder the band has been recognized as “Group of the Year” by Downbeat Readers Poll for three consecutive years: 2023, 2024 & 2025! Rosnes says, “Our goal is to make honest music that touches people. We inspire one another and feel passionate about playing together.
