A quartet of Detroit All-Stars reimagine familiar and lesser-know Brubeck works spanning the history of this ground-breaking American icon.  With a career spanning more than six decades and hundreds of recordings, Dave Brubeck was a global jazz phenomenon and an icon of American culture. Employing innovative use of odd time signatures, elements of classical composition and a highly personalized jazz vocabulary, he created solo, quartet and large scale works inspired  by modernism, spiritualism and social justice. Beyond his legendary status as pianist, composer and band leader, in the mid-twentieth century, Brubeck elevated the popularity of sophisticated jazz by cultivating new audiences amongst college aged youth who ultimately embraced modern-jazz as a defining music of their generation.
