About Miguel Gutierrez
Miguel Gutierrez is an explosive and dynamic drummer, percussionist and teacher whose magic touch and ability to move with ease into many different styles will mesmerize the listener. His rhythmic training, musical sensitivity and immense love for his art form shines through each instrument. As the owner and founder of Professional Drum and Percussions Studies (www.prodrumstudies.com), Miguel has taught drums and percussion for more than 31 years. He is busy with studio sessions, clinics and performances and is the leader of the Detroit-based world rhythm jazz group ‘Truth’. He is also a member of the Percussive Arts Society, has served on the faculty at William Tyndale Christian College, and has been an instructor with Meditation Outreach – instructing the visually impaired.
Mark Stryker, Detroit Free Press music critic, wrote of Cliff, “…[his] breathy ideas leave lots of space, girding the music with exquisite tension. …What gives the music personality is Monear’s suave touch, relaxed swing, fresh melodic and harmonic turns and the unpretentious way he draws on familiar influences.”
About Cliff Monear
A product of the Berklee College of Music, Cliff’s jazz group, The Cliff Monear Trio, is one of the busiest performing rhythm sections in the Midwest. In addition to this very full private and public performance schedule, and teaching commitments at Wayne State University, Cliff Monear is the exclusive Steinway & Sons representative for the Michigan jazz community.
