Nick Collins is excited to bring his long time friends Brian Marsella and Reid Taylor out to the Blue LLama Jazz Club from New York City. Brian performs with renowned musicians ranging from Christian McBride to John Zorn, and Reid can be heard performing at NYC jazz venues Smalls, Mezzrow, and Ornithology.
Brian and Reid are founding members of the band “The Flail,” which records on the Smalls Live record label, has played Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola dozens of times, and tours internationally. The Flail is known for its original music, band cohesion, wide dynamic range, and incorporating a very wide range of jazz history and genres.
Nick Collins lived and played music in New York City from 1998 to 2004, and returned to Ann Arbor in 2004 to start a family. Nick leads his group at the Blue LLama every 1st and 3rd Saturday, which features internationally renowned locals such as Dwight Adams on trumpet, Rick Roe on piano, and Jeff Pedraz on bass. Over the years Nick has played with other local legends such as Randy Napoleon, Vincent Chandler, Josef Deas, Glenn Tucker, Dan Bennett, and Justin Walter.
