About the Artist
The University of Michigan Jazz Ambassadors 2025 Summer Jazz Intensive is a one week full-scholarship summer jazz program exclusively for students from within the state of Michigan. Students receive a recommendation from their band or music directors in order to apply and are then selected by an adjudicated process that results in a six or seven person combo. The students work all week with their guest musical director, who for this year is saxophonist Adam Larson, as well as with the U of M Jazz faculty, studying jazz combo performance skills, jazz theory and improvisation, jazz history and business of music as well as participating in faculty-led listening sessions, faculty presentations and private lessons. The performance at the Blue LLama is their capstone experience for the week.
