Rick Roe is a jazz pianist, composer, performer, and educator in the southeastern Michigan music community. He has produced and co-produced over a dozen recordings with original compositions and jazz classics with some of the most accomplished jazz musicians in the world.
Monkʼs Modern Music, Rickʼs first recording on his RNR Unknown Records label, has become highly regarded by many jazz greats around the world. It features Rodney Whitaker and Greg Hutchinson. His subsequent recordings have also received praise for his compositions and arrangements of jazz classics and popular culture hits.
His teaching experience includes being an Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies and Jazz Piano at Michigan State University from 2001-2011, and he has been a guest artist and clinician at the University of Arizona, North Texas University, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Juilliard Jazz in N.Y., and the University of Michigan.
