Jazz pianist and composer David Janeway grew up in Detroit, where he was immersed in Motown and heavily influenced by local jazz icons Marcus Belgrave and Harold McKinney. Moving to NYC in 1978, Janeway studied under the late Albert Dailey and collaborated with luminaries like The Supremes, Art Farmer, Sonny Fortune, Michal Urbaniak, Angel Canales and Sabor, Dakota Staton, Benny Golson, Eliot Zigmund, Tom Harrell, Jr. Cook and others. He has performed on notable stages like at the Detroit Jazz Festival and Village Gate, and his acclaimed album "Distant Voices,” released in 2021 ft. Billy Hart and Cameron Brown, received high praise from critics like George Harris and Michael P. Gladstone, solidifying Janeway's place as an extraordinary pianist.
