Woodwind specialist, recording artist, and composer Kasan Belgrave is one of the rising talents in Detroit’s young generation of jazz. His energetic playing style and improvisational finesse derives from influences of the great bebop era, as well flares of fusion and gospel. Last year’s 2024 Detroit Jazz Festival was a milestone for Belgrave, as he debuted as a newly emerged bandleader for his sextet. This will be the official release show of his debut album, “Dual Citizen”. 

Kasan has toured as a multi-woodwind instrumentalist with Jazz @ Lincoln Center w/ Wynton Marsalis, performed in multiple residencies curated by drummer Terri Lynn Carrington, performed with drummer Karriem Riggins, and trumpeter Etienne Charles. He also works heavily in electronic/DJ music, making appearances with producers Madlib, Jon Dixon, Moodyman, and Carl Craig.
