Flashpoint Quintet is a dynamic jazz ensemble formed in the fall of 2023, based in Indiana University Bloomington. Comprised of talented musicians—Jake Lee on trumpet, Willie Bays on saxophone, Alex Hurvitz on piano, Alex Hoberty on bass, and Tate Sherman on drums—the quintet showcases a vibrant blend of hard bop jazz and original compositions.

Drawing inspiration from legends such as Art Blakey, Kenny Garrett, and Roy Hargrove, Flashpoint Quintet has quickly made a name for itself in the jazz scene. They have performed at notable events, including the 2024 Detroit Jazz Festival and the 2023 Ann Arbor Jazz Festival, captivating audiences with their energetic performances and innovative sound.

As they continue to develop their craft, Flashpoint Quintet aims to push the boundaries of jazz while paying homage to its rich traditions.
