UMPH is collection of talented University of Michigan students who hail from all over the country. Although their jazz improv instructor combined them completely arbitrarily, they soon recognized that their passions and interests bonded them and superseded the class. They quickly began recording their own arrangements and originals and have played all over Ann Arbor and Michigan with their 1970s Herbie Hancock and the Crusaders Insparations.
