DOORS 6PM | SHOW 7-8PM

Described as a “rising star” from Fox 2 News, Brendon Davis is an emerging pianist, composer, and recording artist. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a Master’s degree in Improvisation and a Bachelor’s in Jazz Studies with a concentration in piano, and a minor in Performing Arts Management.

Studying with Jazz Messenger and master Benny Green, he was impacted greatly and inspired to push himself as an aspiring pianist. As a composer, he has been commissioned to write for various groups including Musique Noire. Their album “Intergenerational” was nominated for a 2023 Detroit Music Award. He is a newly selected Geri Allen Gathering Orchestra fellow where he is able to work with jazz legends Professor Rodney Whitaker, Professor Walter Blanding, and Professor Vincent Chandler. His artistry has allowed him to be featured on NBC nightly news and to travel throughout the country performing in places such as the Kennedy Center and with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in Orchestra Hall.

Other Performance credits include the Detroit Jazz Festival (2020-2022), Mackinac Island Jazz Festival (2023), Summer Solstice Jazz Festival (2021-2023), and the Disney All-American College Band (2019). He has worked with the likes of Jason Marsalis, Rodney Whitaker, Keyon Harrold, Slum Village, Jessica Care-Moore, Kris Johnson, Isis Damil, Randy Scott, Penny Wells, Marion Hayden, Sean Dobbins, and De’Sean Jones. Moreover, he has studied with pianists Andy Mine, Ellen Rowe, Roger Jones, Tamir Hendelman, Bill Moss, Jr., and Alonza McKenzie. In March of 2023, he released his debut single entitled “I’m Done Hiding” featuring vocalist and co-lyricist Keyandra May. The song encourages listeners to step into who they are and walk into their purpose.

The Cambridge Dictionary defines the word muse as a person or an imaginary being or force that gives someone ideas and helps them to write, paint, or make music. Therefore, when a plethora of musicians inspired by the source come together, a society is formed. Drawing from their respective artistic influences, Muze Society explores compositions by Davis while also tastefully crafting a rhythmic experience on pieces for audiences and each other.
