Bassist, composer and bandleader Dave Sharp explores music traditions from around the world and has served as an original member of the Dave Sharp Worlds Quartet, Klezmephonic and the Dave Sharp Octet: Above the Underdog Project. Sharp has collaborated with a wide variety of artists including vocalist Cheikh Lo (Senegal), Parthiv Gohil (India), Boaz Jagingo (Kenya) Rohen Bose (India), Kaboge Chagala (Kenya) Jonita Gandhi (India) Iggy Pop (Ann Arbor) and fellow bassist and composer Alune Wade (Senegal).
The Sharp Quartet features original compositions and the music of Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Kenny Dorham and Rahsaan Roland Kirk. The line-up includes Sharp on double bass, Bobby Streng on tenor saxophone, Rick Roe on piano and Jesse Kramer on drums.
